French vintage oblong box with burl wood marquetry, hinged lid which is slightly rounded.
This is a beautiful oblong marquetry wood box with lid. The wood is inset with burl wood, on the lid and on the sides of the box. The lid overlaps the box and is slightly rounded and has two hinges. As with all burl wood items, they are totally unique and different from the next and that is one of the reasons they are so rare and valuable. Burl wood is extremely dense and resistant to splitting.
The burl woods are very rare and highly prized!

Condition:
The wood box is in very good vintage condition. The lid has dried and revealed a small split around one of the knot. The base is made from a pinewood.
