1940s Girls' Forest Green authentic Velvet Muff/Purse & Matching Hat

This beautiful girls' set includes a forest green velvet muff that is also a purse, and matching folding hat with ribbon and feather trim.

The muff has very thick padding for warming her hands. The top is spring-loaded and opens to reveal a small purse that is about 5 inches deep and 5 inches wide and lined with dark green satin fabric. The muff is also lined with this same fabric. It also has a ribbon to put your wrist through. Muff measures 11 1/2 inches wide at the bottom, 8 1/2 inches wide at the top, 8 inches high, and 3 inches thick.

The hat is an army style that folds flat for storage. It has dark green grosgrain ribbon grim with a bow and green feather on the left side. The excess ribbon hangs down the back of the head. It is marked size Large and has a circumference of 20 inches. There is a bit of elastic at the back that surprisingly still has some elasticity to it.

CONDITION: Due to its age, there are a couple of issues with this set. The parts of the ribbon that hang down the back of the hat have some discoloration on one side, but the rest of the hat is fine. The muff has a long rectangular discoloration, about 7 inches long and 1 inch wide, near the bottom of one side, as well as a circular discoloration on the same side near the right edge at the bottom( See last photo). The other side looks fine. All of these discolorations are subtle and difficult to photograph.

I use Etsy's calculated shipping option, so shipping will automatically calculate for your location when you check out. I will wrap your purchases with loving care and generally ship them out the next business day unless there is a blizzard or other disaster. I do recycle shipping materials to save cost and the environment. Don't be surprised to find paper towel tubes, empty (washed) food containers, and the like inside your recycled box. These are nearly weightless and take up space, making them great packing materials.
