Set of 4 Prints of the Total Solar Eclipse authentic of 2017 (photo print, wall art, astrophotography, square, black and white)
Set of four separate prints of images of the total solar eclipse of 2017 taken at different exposure settings and revealing various features of the sun.
The first and darkest photo authentic highlights the chromosphere, or uppermost atmosphere of the sun (seen at the bottom left). Much cooler and dimmer than the photosphere, the chromosphere shines bright red. This photo was taken during the first few seconds of totality, after the moon has completely blocked the photosphere but has not yet covered the chromosphere.
The second photo highlights solar prominences. Similar in brightness and composition to the chromosphere, prominences are large clouds or filaments of plasma expelled from the photosphere that have cooled enough to glow a dimmer red color. These prominences are many times the size of Earth.
The third photo highlights the lower corona. The corona is a loose haze of plasma surrounding the sun's upper atmosphere. Much dimmer than the photosphere, it is normally impossible to see, but during a total eclipse, it shines around the silhouette of the moon. The twisted magnetic field of sun creates the wispy lines you see by redirecting the charged particles of the corona's plasma.
The fourth photo highlights the upper corona. Red glare from the solar prominences is also visible.
These are unmatted, unframed, open edition prints made to order by a professional photo lab. They will be numbered and signed by the photographer on the reverse side.
The maximum size of this image is 12x12 inches.

About this eclipse
On August 21, 2017, North America experienced its first total solar eclipse in 99 years. As the moon passed in front of the sun, it cast a shadow up to 70 miles wide that sped from the north Pacific ocean to the south Atlantic in about 3 hours. Anyone its path from Oregon to South Carolina experienced about three hours of partial eclipse and two minutes of totality.
During the first partial phase of a solar eclipse, the moon begins to cover the sun and the viewer enters the penumbra, or partial shadow of the moon. As the moon covers more and more of the sun, the shadow gets progressively darker and it starts to feel like a cloudy day even though the sky is clear. Once the sun is fully covered, the viewer has passed into the umbra, or full shadow of the moon. The sky appears as it does at twilight except that the horizon is orange in all directions. Nocturnal animals like bats sometimes become active. The sun's corona, which is normally too dim to see, shines around the outside of the moon's silhouette. With a telescope, one can also see solar prominences and the thin red chromosphere, or cooler upper atmosphere of the sun. After a few minutes, the umbra passes and the sun's bright photoshpere is again visible. The second partial phase begins as the moon slowly moves away.

Print Types
>> Standard
Traditional silver halide (light-sensitive) prints on digitally exposed Kodak ENDURA or Fuji Crystal Archive paper.
>> Inkjet
Printed with archival quality pigment inks for a lifespan several times longer than silver halide prints. See my FAQ for more information.
----------------------------------------
Papers
>> Smooth Matte (inkjet only)
An uncoated cotton rag paper with a subtly smooth matte surface and the look and feel of a fine art paper. Both matte papers have a warmer tone than luster and are a better choice for longevity.
>> Textured Matte (inkjet only)
Similar to smooth matte but with a with a subtle texture that can add some extra character to photos with bright highlights or smooth gradients.
>> Luster
Shiny surface but slightly textured to reduce reflections. Brighter, cooler whites and slightly darker blacks than matte.
>> Metal Prints
Image is printed on a receiver coating bonded to an aluminum sheet for a sleek, modern look. Metal prints are an elegant way to display photos without a frame. Multiple finish options are available. Comes ready-to-hang. More info here: www.etsy.me/2QCxR17
Custom printing options are available for odd sizes, specialty papers, alternative media, splits and more. If there is something specific you'd like, I will do my best to make it happen. Contact me if you're interested.

Color Matching
I do my best to ensure that colors are reproduced as consistently and accurately as possible. However, due to differences between my devices and yours and between digital displays and photographic dyes, I cannot guarantee that the print will look exactly as it appears on your screen. I strongly recommend against any kind of color matching using your display.
If color is important to you, consider ordering a thumbnail proof here: www.etsy.me/2RTDOaa. The proof is a discounted 6x6 inch silver halide print on luster paper with up to 6 thumbnails of any of the images you're interested in.
