This is a wonderful unique find a memorandum book from 1842 A little bit of social Scottish history.
It is handwritten journal from mid February to the end of December 1842. ( it is in marked condition with much foxing and thumbing please see photographs)
The journal seems to have been written at Renton house near Coldingham in authentic the Scottish borders presumably by the factor Or some other senior employee .
The daily entries always start with recording the weather, then list all the outgoings for the house and estate, together with little asides. The backboard and spine are missing together with the entries for January and early February but it is still a most interesting document and truly a one off.
If you would like Bruce to tape up the sides and attach the front cover please advise in advance thank you.
