Chilkats, authentic Alaska, original watercolor painted on location

authentic The snow-draped Chilkat mountain range looked like they were sprinkled with powdered sugar the day I painted this small watercolor in Southeast Alaska along the Inside Passage. In this silent scene a pod of orcas appeared near the island and I could hear the blowholes spout as if it were right next to me as it was so quiet. This little painting is one of my favorites because of the spontaneity of the brushwork and the fairytale scenery of this part of Alaska. This is an original unframed watercolor on paper.
