Vintage African statue tribal fertility maternity antique bronze brass metal tone figure of pregnant woman sculpture in overall good condition considering likely age.

Sourced in the South of France the provenance is unknown - this is an unusual piece with an honest sense of age.

The statue appears to be of a woman with tribal markings over her body and is most likely a maternity / fertility statue. Has authentic a nice primitive quality to it - the statue will stand up on her own however there is an incline so for display purposes you may need to adapt a plinth or other support to ensure the statue is secure.

Material is unknown - definitely metal - given the weight most likely in bronze with a patina and some light spots of verdi gris around the knees. Please see photos for more details.
