Rag Rug "Holiday authentic Nougat" The Lesser

Every Christmas your grandmother puts out those delicious soft colorful gumdroppy nougat candies. Not the stripey ones that shred your tongue, but the ones that are soft to start with then get very hard and pull out your fillings if you are not careful. I wracked my brain trying to recall what the colors in this rug reminded me of and finally it dawned on me.

2 Tbs. butter
2 bags mini marshmallows
2 bags white chocolate chips
2 cups gumdrops


This rug is woven of a recycled fabric remnants one is a pale pink festooned with gumdrop colors in abstract splashes. It is paired with a soft gray and white camo print ... both are cotton blend knit fabrics. It is a soft heavy rug.

Warp is done in stripes of Burgundy, Rose and Natural with accents in Black
It is a polycotton warp

The size of this rug is 23.5" x 43"

My greatest joy in weaving comes in color exploration. Weaving rag rugs allows me to combine colors in ways that I might not have thought of if the "rags" were not in front of me, daring me to put them together.

All my rugs are woven on a large vintage "Weaver's Delight" rug loom built in 1942. The whole authentic house shakes when I am weaving. The designs are my own and I have won several awards for my work. I use all recycled materials in my wefts and either cotton or polyester warp. My rugs are machine washable in warm or cool. It is best to line dry. Give the fringe a good shake to straighten it and hang over a clothesline or rail. With a bit of care this rug will last a good many years.
