This painting has a lot of emotions in it and as a young boy I had a very similar situation and learned a lesson I have never forgotten. And I bet many of us can relate to it in some way. A watercolorist and book illustrator, Rebecca Spencer Files lived and painted in Maine, Tucson, Arizona, Boulder, Colorado and her last residence, Cañon City, Colorado.
Born Rebecca Spencer in Kennebunkport, Maine in 1910, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa University of Maine in 1932 and afterward went to art school in New York and Maine. She studied with Eliot O'Hara in Maine. After art school, Files taught art to children in first through eighth grades. She married Harry Files around 1930.
Measures Sight 14" x 21" original wood frame 20" x 27". The painting is in very good condition some marks on the frame.
