It has some permanent dirt on it, some paint on some edges and some chipping of black paint off it - so it could use repainting or sand blasting. Notice the intricate design around the outside edge. on the back the patent date is Aug 3 (?), 188_, hard to read last number. It also says 8 x 10, which would be the vent opening size.
the outside dimensions are 12 by 9 3/4 inches. the entire register is 1 7/8 inches wide and the louver lever extends beyond that. the design is such that it would extend about 1 inch from the wall. This register/vent weighs 6 1/2 pounds.
