Below is a little about the artist:
Pierre Louis Grevedon (called Henri Grevedon) was born in 1776 in Paris and died in the same city in 1860. A pupil of Regnault, in 1803 he was mentioned with honor at the Rome competition. Grevedon made his debut at the Salon of 1804 and was awarded a medal. He then went to Russia, where he remained until 1812 and became a member of St. Petersburg Academy. After staying for some time in Stockholm and London he returned to Paris in 1816. In this period he was principally working on lithographs, which quickly brought him fame. Amongst his lithographed works are portraits of numerous actresses and dancers of the period; for instance, those of Taglioni, Malibran, Rachel, Fanny Eisler, Henriette Sontag. He again began showing his works at the Salon in 1824 and continued exhibiting there until 1859. In 1824 he was awarded a 2nd class medal; in 1831 - 1st class medal and in the following year - the Legion d'Honneur. Besides producing lithographs he painted portrait miniatures on ivory and chalk portrait drawings.
Also has the printer mark Lith de Lemercier on the right bottom corner.
Info on the printers mark: An early adapter of lithography after it arrived in France about 1800, Joseph Lemercier established one of the best-known printing houses of the nineteenth century.
This is a beautiful antique French litho of a famous opera singer in the 1800's. Framed by someone to protect it in a black speckled gold frame that has a burgundy mat. Probably a 70s to 80's frame
Would also look wonderful in a time period older frame.
Hard to get a good picture with the glare on glass..so I took pics of it in different areas of my home.
Perfect size to add to a gallery wall, or to stand alone...great for any home décor, from vintage, traditional, boho to eclectic styles!
Measures approx. Frame 14 1/2" tall x 11 1/2" wide x 3/4" deep
artwork may be around 9" x 11"
Condition: For a 1830's print it is in good condition. The inks are still good. yellowing of the paper, most on edges. It has a tear in paper at top of her hair to top of paper edge. Can be repaired, but leaving any changes to you.
