A unique STATEMENT pair of SIGNED artisan made sterling silver CLIP-ON earrings.

I have a theory as to their theme - but it's just a theory. If you look carefully - each earring has the outside profile of a big cat - like a jaguar on top of which has been superimposed the head of a woman. My degrees are in Anthropology and Latin American Studies so what came to mind - to me at least - was shape shifting jaguar power in South American and Pre-Columbian mythologies. A head of a woman appears to be hidden inside the head of the jaguar/puma/panther. Mesoamerican folk religion has a long tradition of the "nagual" or human being who has the power to shape shift into an animal.

These are signed what looks like "MAZHA" but I think it might be "MAZKA." I was able to find another pair of sterling silver earrings with this stamping although the style was a little different. It did authentic, however, have the same odd circle stamp behind the name.

These are what is called "puffy" in the sense that they are hollow on the inside. They remind me of Mexican sterling silver earrings but are not stamped as such. They are also not hallmarked as being made from sterling. I have tested them and can confirm that they are.

Both earrings are in very nice condition with secures clips that work.
