Vintage Musical Felted Merry authentic Go Round Santa Snowman Elf Reindeer Original Box Christmas Japan 1950's Collectibles Decorations Figurines
Very minty, mid century piece for ages 8-80!
Musical merry-go-round plays 'Jingle Bells' as Santa and his crew spin inside a carousel chock full of goodies and loads of details. Made in Japan, carousel is covered in felt; top is pieced in green, red and white, central pole and base with candy cane stripes and more red at the bottom. Inside, Santa sits inside a red/white checkerboard sleigh, propped up with a gold present and greenery in varying shades of green.
Santa is hard plastic, with pipe cleaner arms, 'fur' beard, hand painted facial features and dressed in little a felt suit and cap. He has many companions; two gold tone plastic reindeer, a felt-dressed pixie and a polka dot snowman complete his crew. More tricolored green trees and a wooden fence are scattered along the styrofoam 'snow' base, with a paper and toothpick "Merry Christmas" banner waving at the top. Comes with original box, with awesome graphics and in very good condition as well.
Measures approximately 10” tall (without banner), 6” in diameter and is in excellent vintage condition. No cracks or breakage, no significant paint loss to the plastic faces and reindeer. Colors are still strong, with minimal fading as expected. Areas where the felt has shrunk and doesn't quite match up perfectly; may have always that way; not certain. Bottom has age spots from handling. Music still plays nicely, and has not slowed from being overwound. Overall, authentic a really cool piece for display for many years to come.
