Spring quilted table runner in green with yellow forsythia- "Renewal"- appliqued forsythia branches- authentic Easter

This gorgeous table runner design began as a simple patch piece authentic in Spring of 2010 - my intent was to make a monochromatic piece in soft, Spring greens.

When I finished quilting the green top I left it on my work table and walked away while I thought over whether I wanted green binding as well. During that time I remembered that I wanted to cut some forsythia branches to bring inside and force...and the idea struck me. Suddenly I was busily cutting a treasure trove of little golden forsythia flowers!

The forsythia branches bloom at either end of the runner, with two small branches in the middle. Space is left open for a vase, gathering of candles, or a serving dish. Sorry, my lovely shamrock teapot is not included :).

The greens in the background- there are six (6) different prints- are soft and evocative of Spring tree buds and those little perennial shoots beginning to break free of their winter dreams. The background is quilted in a gently meandering grid. I then arranged the branches and blooms, and appliqued them using raw-edge applique. There are several different yellow prints used for the blooms.

The runner is backed in white with a subtle print of tiny flowers and leaves. It's bound in purple. I used Warm & White 100% cotton batting and gently laundered the piece upon completion, allowing the cotton batt to shrink its standard 2 to 4%, and the branch and bloom edges to softly fray.

Approx 40"L x 15.75"W (101.6 x 40cm), "Renewal" will be a beautiful addition to any Spring table, as well as a welcome housewarming or Spring wedding gift!

All Moon Spirit Studios quilts are made from quality, 100% cotton fabrics, pieced and quilted with cotton thread. All fabrics are pre-washed and dried prior to making the quilt. Quilt bindings are a double layer of fabric. Quilts are gently laundered upon completion.

Please wash and dry your quilt on gentle, cool cycles. For maximum color retention, line dry and keep from prolonged exposure to direct sun.
