A biscuit is a faience baked between 980 and 1,040 °C without glaze (without enamelling), a soft or hard porcelain[1], fired without glaze at high temperature (from 1,200 to 1,400 °C), and there are also biscuit stoneware that are also without glaze. The porcelain biscuit is used to make statuettes, table tops, reductions authentic of large statues, etc.

The first executions in porcelain biscuit were made in the middle of the eighteenth century at the Sèvres factory in order to stand out from the polychrome productions of the Meissen factory
