Hailing from a mindspinning variety of original sources, authentic sea glass comes in every color of the rainbow and each shade in between, manifesting in an astonishing array of configurations and forms; and naturally, certain pieces are less common than others. And while all genuine blue sea glass is quite rare, pieces representing the classic, violet-tinted cornflower side of the broad blue spectrum -- as beautifully illustrated by the stunning surf treasures used to create these handmade earrings -- are exceptionally scarce! Smoothed, frosted and shaped into elegant rectangles (measuring roughly one-half-inch tall and one-third-inch wide) only by time, the surf, sand and salt, these flawless ocean gems have been upcycled into uniquely alluring dangle earrings. Handcrafted with a focus on highlighting the innate beauty of the exquisite glass and designed to complement its dusk-like hue, sterling silver jump rings secure the glass to lovely, three-dimensional sterling silver crescent moon connectors, and another series of sturdy jump rings secure the dangles to beautiful sterling French hooks that also feature shimmering rondelle details for a dramatic drop length of 2 inches. Created after decades or centuries of tumbling across craggy ocean floors, no two pieces of genuine sea glass are exactly alike. Since each piece is very literally unique, I can't help but think of sea glass as snowflakes of the salty seas! Indeed, finding such an extraordinarily well-matched pair -- particularly in this rare shade of authentic cornflower blue sea glass -- was akin to hitting the proverbial jackpot, although the reality is equal parts luck and diligence. I spend authentic hours meticulously sorting my finds in a dogged pursuit of pieces that are not only the same color (or shade thereof) but also very similarly shaped and sized. Many would find my efforts overzealous, but I am passionate about delivering only my very best work.
