Product code: Silver Plate Lion or Cat authentic Butter or Candy Dish, Rogers, Downton Abbey Edwardian Elegant Serving Piece

I found this interesting Edwardian silver plate rotating butter dish and I think it's really neat. Originally intended for serving butter, this could be re-purposed now to hold jewelry or other treasures. The hallmark on the bottom attests to this being made by the F.B. Rogers Silver Company of England, and it is probably from the very late 1800s or very early 1900s, and it has a patent date of 1883. The three feet all show a wonderful cat, feline, or lion detail, and the top rotates open smoothly and easily. I believe this once would have had a glass dish inside, but that has been lost and this is how I found it. It measures about 5" in diameter and is 4 3/4" tall when the lid is closed and about 3 1/8"tall when the lid is open. It stands on its 3 authentic feet securely and without wobble. It weighs about 12 ounces. In fair condition, as it is heavily tarnished and oxidized.
