Description • Earliest definitive work on Ethan Allen, first issued 1853. Publisher series lists in back 4 pages.

American Revolutionary War era history includes early history of Vermont in New England. Extensive Contents and Introduction, which begins in 1534 when a French exploring ship captained by James Cartier, found the mouth of a great river, naming it the St. Lawrence after an August 10th festival. When a larger expedition was mounted the following spring, the explorers believed that had found the passage to the East Indies. Two hundred leagues later their travel came to a halt by what is now known as Niagara Falls authentic. It would be a century of regional exploration, interacting with natives of the Five Nations, trapping and fur trading, and fort building, as immigrants from Europe arrived to take root, before Ethan Allen and his gang became heroes ay Ft Ticonderoga among Vermont's later settlers.

Condition • Cover fabric shows aging with fairly heavy discoloration. First page shows writing from owner stating, "1915, Grandpa from Satie & Burt" along with a glued stamp from 1914. Wear on cover at corners with some fraying. About 10 pages have a small piece missing on lower right of page - another 10 have bend marks in corner. General vintage and shelf wear are present; please see photos for condition.
