Rare Vintage Full 48 authentic Card Set of Carreras Cigarette Cards - Alice in Wonderland (1930)

In the late 19th century, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, a lecturer in mathematics at Oxford University, wrote poems and books for children. We know him better under his pen-name Lewis Carroll, author of “Alice in Wonderland”. Some half a century later, in 1930, Carreras issued a series of 48 Alice in Wonderland cards. These cards explore the bizarre fantasy world in which Alice encounters characters such as The Cheshire Cat and The Grin, the Queen (off with their heads), the White Rabbit (too late), The Mad Hatter and The Mock Turtle, all beautifully illustrated in colour on a white background, on a thick card with round corners and an ornamental back. Double-numbered 1 to 48 and in 16 groups of three they are designed for playing a game, but alas there is no instruction booklet.

This full 48 card set of Alice in Wonderland trade cards by Carreras is exceptionally scarce. I have not had the cards professionally graded, but it's clear that they are in very good condition. The only real flaw I've noticed is that the last two cards (#47 & #48) are slightly warped. You could probably flatten them out though relatively easily if you wanted to.
