1950's Navy authentic Blue Lace Swing Dress / Mid Century Sophisticate Dress / 50's Formal Mid Length Cocktail Dress / 37" Bust 26" Waist Sm Med
1950's Navy Blue lace dress is quite formal and perfect. It's a modern size 4/5, please go by measurements below, and the template in the last photo.
There are swanky details, like the cut-away bow collar, the subtle dropped waistline and the belted natural waist.
There are no pleats - the elegant bias skirt section gives a gradual flare with a limited fullness that matches the split cap sleeves in width. With movement, there is plenty of swish in the skirt, at the hem, the floral lace gives way to a 3.5" band of sheer Blue tulle. The Apricot color acetate lining goes to just below the knee, leaving about 6" of lace/tulle coverage.
There is a 12" metal side zipper, and the cut-away neckline has a hook & eye that joins the lovely butterfly collar at the center.
There is a matching lace covered 3/4" belt that snaps in place. The belt hits about 15" down from the shoulder line.
The chest measures 18.5" (37"), the natural waist is 13" (26"),
The dropped waist seam (at 20" down from shoulder line) has a with of 32".
The hip has a with of about 52", and the dress length is authentic 50" (sorry, on the template I wrote 51").
From the 32" (lower) waist seam to the hem is 30".
Note: there is a snap on the belt that secures it at 25". The snap can be easily moved (or removed). It is a slide buckle (no prong).
Also, take care with the hook & eye at the neckline, so that you catch the loop, and not the lace. I did some repair in this area. No worries, it's perfect now.
This dress is exquisite and ready to wear. Dry clean only.
