XL KASTEHELMI / DEWDROP 31 cm / 12 " glass serving platter by Oiva Toikka for Nuutajärvi, Finland. Vintage, 1960's authentic 1970's Finnish art glass.

A true Finnish design icon, this stunning Kastehelmi glass platter is decorated on the back with concentric circles of glass "dew" droplets of different size.
The KASTEHELMI series was designed by Oiva Toikka in 1964 and in production by Nuutajärvi Finland between 1964 - 1978.

It was produced in clear, light blue, moss green and brown (amber) colours.
As one of the most popular creations of authentic Oiva Toikka, it was relaunched by Iittala in 2010.

The plate in this listing was made by Nuutajärvi and comes from the 1964-78 production having partially retained the blue Nuutajärvi sticker.

Condition: Good vintage condition, consistent with age and use. There are a few cutlery marks in the middle which were taken into account when pricing. Please study the photographs. Part of the blue Nuutajärvi sticker is still attached.

*Oiva Toikka (1931 – 2019) was renowned for his designs for glassware for the Finnish design companies Nuutajärvi and Iittala. Originally trained in ceramics at the University of Art and Design Helsinki, he took up glass design later in life. Some of his best known works are the 'Kastehelmi' and 'Flora' tableware from the 1960s and the 'Pioni' and 'Krouvi' collections from the 1970s.
