We are pleased to present a circa CARSTENS TÖNNIESHOF 589/30 Art Vase. This large, stunning Mid Century vase has a glossy finish and is a deep mahogany color with white , canary yellow and red accents. The bottom of the vase is marked Germany 589/30.
Carstens Tönnieshof was founded in 1946 and production of table ceramics started 1947. In addition to their own ceramics, they also manufactured ceramics for the Austrian company Goldscheider. By the mid 70's profitability in the ceramics industry decreased and the company went bankrupt in 1977. The business were taken over by its employees under the name Kiel Atelier and continued through 1984.
Based on the embossed Germany marking on the bottom of the vase, it was manufactured between 1955-1960.
The Carstens Tönnieshof measures 12.0”H x 5.5”W and 3 5/8”WW at the base. It is in excellent gently used condition with no cracks or repairs. The vase does have a very minor chip along the rim of the base, but is not visible upon display. Please refer to the photos.
The Carstens Tönnieshof Vase would make an excellent addition to your Mid Century or West German Pottery Collection. It would also make a lovely birthday, wedding, anniversary or housewarming gift.
